The USPTO has
granted Zerx, LLC patent coverage for all of the following technologies
invented by Zerx:
Related
sites - Zerx has patented the algorithms for determining
website relationships through the use of link analysis (correlation of
links). Additionally, our patented algorithms also analyze links to
determine the strength of those relationships between websites.
Search ranking using a relationship database
- Zerx uses this relationship database to rank search results by
scoring each result's relationship to the other search results. Sites
having the strongest relationship to the other search results will get
ranked higher. Sites which have no relationship to the search results
will get ranked lowest. This allows the search to use objective
relevancy when ranking websites.
Search refinement using a relationship database
- Zerx allows refining search results based upon the relationship to a
specific search result. This refinement can be: listing all related
sites to a given web site; a cross section of results given by the
intersection of search results and a web page relationship; or by a
cross section of results given by the intersection of common sites
related to two or more web pages. This allows for custom category
building based on relationships and keywords.
Additionally, we use our patented algorithms to provide
the following features:
Concept searching - Zerx allows the user to
perform a conceptual search of our database by including sites that
don't contain the search terms, but are highly related to the search
results. This feature can perform two different effects: (1)
Pulling in contrasting websites to the search query. (2) Pulling in
strongly related sites to the search query which fail to meet the
search criteria.
Clustering results - Our patented databases
allow Zerx to present clusters of relationships within the
results. This allows for viewing closely related areas of the web
containing a search term.
Reranking results based on relevant clusters
- Zerx allows the user to select the relevancy of clusters in the
results in order to rerank the results by ranking relationships to
sites in user selected clusters higher.
